Siggi Hofer and Kunstverein Schattendorf presents: Alaska
Alaska (nothing again) at Kunstverein Schattendorf begins at the moment when excitement has lifted.
Curated by Siggi Hofer, the exhibition brings together Georgia Creimer, Rouven Dürr, Lazar Lyutakov, Anja Ronacher, Marko Rop and Petra Sterry around a shared atmosphere.

It feels like a landscape after an inner storm, a field taking on color again while you are still unsure if you have arrived.
Hofer’s accompanying text lingers in the air, with its sense of moving forward, harvesting, failing, rising, a tired smile that somehow warms.

With the finissage on November 30 near, the show reads like a place to pause and remember what has been endured.
A quiet tone that does not need to explain itself.
Siggi Hofer about Alaska (nothing again)
Finally, the exciting and extremely exhausting time came to an end. With tousled hair, bitten lips and a chafed nose, we were glad that it was like that, and above all, happy that we did, completely unexpectedly, get off so lightly.

Living is getting better from day to day. The edge of the field plenty with ears of corn is becoming colourful: cornflowers, common corncockles and larkspurs are blooming, the summer barley is ripening, the ears of the rye are hanging, and the potatoes are adorned with bright flowers.
The excitement had eased off.

The restlessness is forgotten. It is back to the way we had imagined it, the way we had been told it. Things are happening in an order again. From our memories, we filter out the exalting moments that we can, again, dig out exactly when they seem useful and necessary. Whispering comforting words in our ears, warming our hearts and feet on some of the cold winter nights.
Silence is an expression of our joy. Having overcome all nervousness and haste, we roll up the flags and bring in our harvest once more, slowly pushing the boats backwards out of the box again. Out to the sea.

And when the first snow falls far too early and the nights become frosty again, we have stored enough warmth within us, in time, to keep us from despairing. Our confidence that we can master anything only slowly diminishes over time.
In professional coldness, we still achieve the optimum every day. From time to time, we have to counter the infinite vastness with escapades. A little disharmony, whistled into the cold silence, helps to make ourselves noticed so that we are not completely devoured by the cycle.

Of course, it is only an awkward attempt, but one that makes us laugh heartily, even if and especially because failure was inevitable. But, as long as we can afford that luxury.
The crystal-clear lake reflects an entire town and the life in a warm light behind the windows.

Between the mountains and the water, dreams and desires are woven together, and scenes of peaceful coexistence and warlike confrontations are embroidered onto warm blankets with colourful twines.
New motifs are rarely, scantily, added. Sometimes a cryptic sentence unsettles, many a motif seems to be far too gloomy and too large to fit in harmoniously.

But collectively, we turn a blind eye because we know that this kind of harmless impertinence always comes from the same corner. We are already familiar with that. Far too often, we have already experienced and seen the very same thing.
The weary smile is part of the usual routine.
