What are interesting facts about Island Hydra?

Hydra Island, renowned for its pivotal role in the Greek War of Independence in 1821, gained prominence as a haven for relaxation in the 1950s. Artists such as Leonard Cohen and Axel Jensen were captivated by its authentic charm and natural splendor.

This led to the island becoming an artist colony, imbuing it with a cosmopolitan and fashionable aura.

The island's allure lies in its pristine beauty, tranquil lifestyle, and preservation of local traditions amidst the influx of tourism.

Notably, Hydra remains car-free, with only essential services like police, firefighters, and waste management utilizing vehicles, while transportation is predominantly facilitated by donkeys.

Here, they gather around tables, bound by a shared love for this enchanting place.

They translate the island's essence into masterpieces on canvas and in musical notes, unleashing what’s hidden in the depth of their soul.
