Iris Andraschek is an Austrian contemporary artist who lives and works in Vienna and in the countryside in Lower Austria.
Born 1963 in Horn, Niederösterreich, Austria.1982-1986 Art she studied at the Academy of Fine Arts,Vienna, and fresco art at the Fresco School in Bozen and Rome.
She walks the line between private and public, quotidian and ritual, reality and fiction.
She often sets up open production and presentation situations and her own displays for her exhibitions and projects.
Rituals of different communities, alternative life models, nature, rural area and its society, and regulatory systems are recurring subjects in the artistic oeuvre of Iris Andraschek.
In 2020 I reused the title STRICT NATURE for a new series of paperworks.
I continued to work on a technique I used to work on years ago - with plants, pigments, water and rain.
It has been an interaction with weather conditions, colours, plants, materials of my surroundings and the cold of the winter season in an improvised working situation of the pandemic year.
Paper and pigments remain – plants, rain and water are gone.
