ARTIST DUO IRENA EDEN AND STIJN LERNOUT

We are happy to present the exhibition 'from somewhere in the mediterranean' by artist duo Irena Eden and Stijn Lernout, showing their works in cooperation with the Kunst Verein Konstanz. The artists began working on the project before the pandemic and were preparing to open on the 17th of April, 2020.

During lock down they put the project on ice, packed everything away, and concentrated on other things.  Now, they unpacked the works and were finally able to set up the exhibition.

The exhibition shows a large circular sculpture made from steel and textile, drawings, arranged palettes, fluorescent tubes and rigips working together as an installation, allowing different perspectives and levels of interpretation due to its abstract appearance.

IRENA EDEN & STIJN LERNOUT PRESS

For Circle Surface Sun, the artists Irena Eden and Stijn Lernout asked 22 authors from all countries in the Mediterranean for texts on the subject of Mediterranean light. Whether autobiographical narrative, lyrical description or political-philosophical reflection, each contribution should formulate a facet of this special light that unites geographic space.

The two - part publication, realized as an artist's book, prints the contributions in the original languages and scripts as well as in the English translations. A photo series by Irena Eden and Stijn Lernout on the subject of sea and light condenses the atmospheric context of the texts and at the same time documents an aspect of the two artists' installation and drawing analysis.
